James Yang obtained his PhD degree in 1993 from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm. During the past three decades, he has worked on hydraulic issues related to rivers, spillways and other industrial facilities, covering physical hydraulic model tests for 40+ dam spillways and supervision of several PhD projects within numerical (CFD) and measurement techniques of high-velocity two-phase flows and sediment transport. being active at both Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Vattenfall R&D, he has published 80+ peer-reviewed journal articles, and presented 100+ conference papers. He serves as a member of the ICOLD Committee on Hydraulics for Dams.
